Seabury Quinn

The magazine’s most prolific contributor, and, by reader poll, its most popular. Jules de Grandin occult mysteries.

Quinn was born Seabury Grandin Quinn on 1 January 1889 in Washington, D.C. (the Science Fiction Encyclopedia dates the birth December 1889) and died 24 December 1969. He was a lawyer and journalist, and by day he edited a trade journal for funeral directors. For Weird Tales he wrote roughly 145 stories, most of them Jules de Grandin occult detective tales.

An early magazine appearance is the essay The Werewolf of St. Bonnot (May/June/July 1924), Weird Crimes no. 6, distinct from his 1930 story The Wolf of St. Bonnot. An early de Grandin novelette is The Tenants of Broussac (December 1925).
