Writer
H. P. Lovecraft
Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The magazine’s central figure, though he never edited it.
Lovecraft was born 20 August 1890 in Providence, Rhode Island, and died there 15 March 1937. His first appearance in Weird Tales was Dagon, October 1923, a reprint from The Vagrant (November 1919). He did not edit the magazine, and it rejected him more than once.
Stories first printed there include The Call of Cthulhu (February 1928) and The Dunwich Horror (April 1929). The Shadow Over Innsmouth ran in April 1936; that text is not on this page.
Public-domain texts are in the Weird Library. This page does not host the stories.
