Sonia H. Greene

“The Invisible Monster,” November 1923. Later reprints use the title “The Horror at Martin’s Beach.”

Greene was born 16 March 1883 and died 26 December 1972. The November 1923 issue of Weird Tales (vol. 2, no. 4) printed “The Invisible Monster” under her name.

The FictionMags Index on philsp lists the story as Sonia H. Greene with H. P. Lovecraft. ISFDB records it as a variant of a title by Sonia Greene and H. P. Lovecraft. Wikipedia describes it as revised and edited by Lovecraft, written in June 1922. The H. P. Lovecraft Archive lists the first publication as that November 1923 issue, as “The Invisible Monster.”

She married Lovecraft on 3 March 1924, after the story had appeared.

Wikipedia says some of her biographical details are unclear, including birth name and birthplace; those are omitted rather than chosen. A Wikipedia works list dated the magazine appearance November 1969; the story page on the same site, the FictionMags contents list, ISFDB, and the H. P. Lovecraft Archive all give November 1923. Sources opened here call the piece a revision or a collaboration. They do not measure how much of the published text is hers. This page does not host the story.
